| Restaurant Alexander brings title of Estonia's best restaurant to Muhu Island. 17.06.2010 |

2010 marks the third time the event takes place, however for the first time this year the finalists were judged by a team of 6 renowned international food critics.
Although the judges worked independently on their evaluations, the results were unanimous – placing Alexander at Pädaste Manor on top of the list followed by Ö and Tchaikovsky both in Tallinn.
Food critic Kenneth Nars was member of the judges committee. He is part of the chair of the ‘World's 50 Best Restaurants Academy’, responsible for the entries from NE Europe, Iceland & Greenland. ‘Having followed the Estonian food scene for nearly 20 years, it is a pleasure to see that the top 3 restaurants are really delivering an experience that is up to high international standards’, said the renowned food critic. Culinary pioneer and the mentor of the international experimental culinary project 'Cook it raw!' Alessandro Porcelli particularly appreciated the input of Alexander’s head chef Peeter Pihel. ‘Chef Peeter Pihel and his quest to introduce the Nordic Islands’ cuisine from an island of the coast of Estonia is not just conceptually remarkable, highly courageous and sophisticated and not unimportant: it also tastes real good!’ Restaurateur Martin Breuer and chef Peeter Pihel agree that one of the keys for success is without doubt the thorough research of the Nordic Islands Cuisine and the dedication to very familiar, yet thoroughly original flavors which the islands have to offer.
The award has been received with pride by the team at Pädaste but also with a certain sense of humility says Martin Breuer; 'it is another small step ahead in our ongoing quest to provide great hospitality'.
